Southeast Asia:
Southeast Asia is part of the Asian geographical region, consisting of countries that have similar socio-cultural value systems. This condition supports communication between communities from each country. The geographical location of maritime Southeast Asia has led to its archipelagic waterways assuming immense global criticality for piracy and maritime terrorism. The Malacca Straits is one of the world's most vulnerable areas because of their high potential for political conflict and environmental disaster. This is because one third of the world trade passes through the waters anually. The effective management of a regional problem for piracy and and terrorism in the Southeast Asian region of the Straits of Malacca demands understanding of current political dynamics and security approaches.
