With the belief in the "economic interdependence" with the West, the Chinese government obviously cherishes the good will for a "harmonious world" where a "win-win" scenario prevails. Yet, good will is one thing, reality might well be another. New on the world stage, China may have three kinds of conflicts with the West£" materialistic, ideational, and the mixture of ideational and strategic. Solving the materialistic and ideational conflicts is relatively easy while settling the mixture of ideational and strategic conflicts is nearly impossible. I am going to illustrate these three types of conflicts as well as alternatives in the conflict resolution.
