Turkey`s Vision at it`s 100th Anniversary

Turkey’s Strategic Vision 2023 Congress, is being held during 15-17 of October 2008, at Istanbul, Cevahir Congress Centre, by TASAM (Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies). Following this congress, accomplished under the auspices of the Presidency of Turkish Republic, there will be set workshops at 81 different cities.
Chairman of TASAM, Süleyman Şensoy says; “By using the developing economy and the potential, we want to see a much more powerful Turkey, equipped with the values of civilization on the basis of power and justice, at its 100th anniversary.“ Stating that there have been made a few projects on this matter up to these days, he says that with this project ,that is put forth by TASAM, they have a primary goal to introduce more practical and comprehensible policies in general instead of complicated subjects, lost in details, and to serve the output of this project to related decision-maker authorities and NGOs.

Sensoy says; “We, as a think tank organization, are really trying our best to do what we are supposed to do with a great determination and faith in order for our Republic to reach above the contemporary civilization level at its 100th anniversary.“
Indicating that it is a strategic education and interaction project about the goals and the place where Turkey has to be in 2023, the 100th anniversary of Turkish Republic Foundation, Director of the Project Dr. Engin Selçuk says; “There are some crucial attempts to be made during the 15 years to come for Turkey. It will only be possible to reach the goals, aimed whether in the field of foreign policy or political, economic, technological and socio-cultural matters, through the use of goal and vision-oriented strategies by each of the organizations, in coordination.“

Project Asistant Oğuzhan Köse says that this is truly a post-modern project, different from all the other similar ones that have been done until this day. “We desire every section of the society to announce their opinions by the preparation workshops, congress and the workshops that are to take place in 81 different cities, and we want the generally recognized rational strategies to come into being by this project. These recognized strategies will be supported more strongly as they are more comprehensible and acceptable in the point of their applicability. From this aspect, we will fulfil the necessities of being both a think tank and a non-governmental organization.“

Turkey’s Strategic Vision 2023 Project aims at providing suggestions for what kind of a vision Turkey should have in the fields of foreign policy, safety, politics, economy, technology and socio-cultural subjects in 2023, paralel to the developments around the world at the time, and also intends to have a contribution for Turkey to be recognized as a respectable country in the world stage, in 2023, the year in which the 100th anniversary of the Foundation of the Turkish Republic will be celebrated.
Shall We have a Project that has an Universal Value?
On the first day of the Congress, there will be held four sessions under the subject headings of “ Turkey and Foreign Policy Expansions, International System in 2023“ , “New Safety Concepts and Turkey’s Changing Safety Policy“ , “Turkey’s History and the Values to Carry its Cultural Depth“. On the second day of the Congress, the subjects of “Turkish Political System: Balance Sheet and Perspectives for 2023“ , “Education, Science and Technology Policies in Turkey“ , “ Economic Targets“ will be dealt.

In the Congress, the Lecturer of Istanbul Trade University (R.) Ambassador Uluç ÖZÜLKER “ will present the declaration named as “International Environmental Problems and Turkey“, (R) Ambassador Ümit PAMİR will present the declaration “International System and Perspectives for Turkey“, Lecturer of Bahçeşehir University Prof. Dr. Hasan KÖNİ will present the declaration “ The Future of USA and its Potential Reflection on International System“, and the Lecturer of Atılım University, TASAM Ankara Representative (R.) Ambassador Doz. Dr. Ali Engin OBA will present the declaration named as “Basic Safety Problems of Turkish Foreign Policy“.

Lecturer of Bahçeşehir University Doz. Dr. Mert BİLGİN will undertake the subject heading of “ The Problems of Safety of Supply in Energy and Solution Alternatives“, Lecturer of Galatasaray University Prof. Dr. Kenan GÜRSOY will undertake the subject of “Shall We Have a Project of Universal Values for the Humanity?“ , Lecturer of Sabancı University Prof. Dr. Ersin KALAYCIOĞLU will discuss the subject of “The Political Regime Problem of Turkey and Perspectives“, Lecturer of Istanbul University Doz. Dr. Hikmet KIRIK will discuss the subject of “Ethnicity and Religion: Social Demand’s Taking Place in Politics“, Emin AKÇAOĞLU will present the declaration of named as “The Future of Direct Foreign Investment’s for Turkey in 2023“, Lecturer of Rowan University Prof. Dr. İhsan IŞIK will discuss the subject of “Developments in International Banking and its Reflection on Turkish Banking“. Moreover during the Congress, the presentations of “Turkey’s Ministry of Culture Tourism Strategy 2023“ and “TÜBİTAK 2003-2023 Strategy Paper“ will be held.

After the Congress,to be held between 15-17 of October in 2008, it is aimed that with the help of workshops in 81 different cities, some suggestions might be provided for Turkey’s vision from every corner of Turkey. In this context, “Turkey’s Strategic Vision 2023“ official web site( www.tsv2023.tasam.org ), that will be updated paralel to the activities, is expected to reach to a wider sector and everyone who has a word to say is expected to share his/her opinions by the official site of the Congress.
