The first session of TASAM Ankara Meetings was held in the 25th of October

TASAM has started to arrange “Multidimensional Turkish Foreign Policy“ meetings in the Ankara Office starting from October. The first of these meetings was held in the 25th of October 2008 in the TASAM Ankara Office.In the meeting, which was leaded by the Chairman of Tasam Süleyman ŞENSOY, the lecturer of Bilkent University Mr. Prof. Dr. Ali KARAOSMANOĞLU and the lecturer of TOBB Economy and Technology University Mr. Doz. Dr. Mitat ÇELİKPALA expressed their opinions by evaluating the main heading of “Changing Regional, Global Balances and Their Effects on Turkey“. The meeting was held with the active participation of retired or working foreign affairs members, retired Turkish Armed Forces members, officers from various ministries, media officers, academicians and students. The meeting started with the opening speech of the Chairman of TASAM Süleyman ŞENSOY, with a short preview prior to that.

Firstly Prof. Dr. Ali KARAOSMANOĞLU referred to the last international developments within the frame of changing safety descriptions, and mentioned his opinions about Turkey’s role and the perception of safety on this frame. Secondly Mr. Doz. Dr. Mitat ÇELİKPALA referred to the recent international financial and regional crisis more generally. After the overall evaluation of Mr. Süleyman ŞENSOY, other precious participants, all of whom are experts in their own fields, expressed their opinions and directed questions to the speakers.

TASAM Ankara Meetings will be held in every month with a different topic title and with the participation of elite speakers and participators. Turkish Foreign Policy discussions with different evaluations and opinions will contribute to the process of Turkey’s determining its strategy, and it will be a platform for those working and thinking in this matter, to share their ideas and improve.
