The workshops that will bring the Turkish governmental institutions together with the diplomatic representatives, NGO representatives, academicians and reporters of countries from Asia, Africa, Balkans, Latin America – Caribbean and Europe within the aim of contributing to the national mission of the foreign policy of Turkey and multidimensional cooperations to be established, will be held in both Ankara and Istanbul. The first of the workshop formatted meetings will be held in the Istanbul – Ataköy Sheraton Hotel on March 25, 2010, having the agenda of “AGIT 2010 – Kazakhstan, Security Building in Eurasia and the New Vision of OSCE“.
The diplomatic representatives of countries, Turkish governmental institutions, agents of civil society organizations, academicians and researchers will be attending the meetings.
The meeting, that will be started on 13.00 following the lunch, will be chaired by the Chairman of TASAM, Süleyman ŞENSOY. The Ankara Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bagdat Amreyec, the Deputy Director General of the OSCE Arms Control and Disarmament of the Foreign Ministry of T.R. Ambassador Ömer Burhan Tüzel, the Professor of the International Relations Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Çınar Özen and the Professor of the International Relations Department of the Hacettepe University Asst. Prof. Dr. Havva Kök Arslan will give a speech during the workshop.
The Chairman of TASAM Süleyman Şensoy stated, regarding the workshop, that Turkey and Kazakhstan have been two amicable countries whose importances have been increasing in the international community as a result of the stability they have acquired after the Cold War and emphasized the fact that the political, economic and to socio-cultural cooperations be organized between the two countries might have a potential to have a domino effect on the level of countries, regions and continents.
In his speech, Şensoy mentioned that the two countries hold a dominant role in the reshaping of the global environment towards finding a resolution to the chronic, bilateral, multidimensional and international issues of the world and gave the example of the deceased President of Turkey Turgut Özal’s calling and congratulating the President of Kazakhstan of the period, Nursultan Nazarbayev, only in an hour after Kazakhstan declared its independence 18 year ago as a good example to the display the good relations between the two countries.

SÜLEYMAN ŞENSOY; OSCE AND CICA TERM PRESIDENCIES PROVIDE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE SHALL NOT MISS
Şensoy stated that Turkey has gradually pulled back its tendencies that were excessively sensitive and far from real-politics after a time when Central Asian Turkish Republics started to declare their independencies, however, it would always maintain its socio-cultural significance and underlined the fact that this tendency has been successfully founded to a real-politic foundation recently, especially with the contributions of Kazakhstan.
The Chairman Şensoy stated that “With the implementation of the motto of TASAM, which is “Turkey’s turning its back to other regions, especially the East, while it aims to proceed in the West does not correspond to its benefits, and on the contrary, a multilateral and multidimensional foreign policy to be followed by Turkey while it follows a route towards the West would get its feet tighter on the ground“ and which we have been sticking to ever since the foundation of TASAM, an even since earlier times, has increased the international efficiency and significance of our country. Kazakhstan has also been following a multidimensional and multilateral policy like Turkey. The biggest proof of Kazakhstan’s being headed towards Europe as much as Asia is that it will undertake the 2010 AGIT term presidency. Both the 2010 OSCE term presidency of Kazakhstan and Turkey’s “Cooperation in the Asia and Security Increasing Precautions Conference (CICA/AIGK)“ term presidency, which will be undertaken in 2010 for two years, are great opportunities that will get Asia and Europe closer in many ways and that shall not be missed“.
