The 4th of the Iran-Turkey Round Table Meeting, the first of which was held in Istanbul, will be held in Tehran this time.

The meeting will be held on January 17, 2011 in Tehran.

The first meeting was held in Istanbul in 2008, the second was held in Tehran and the third was held in Istanbul again in 2010. The Turkish committee to attend the fourth meeting will include the Chairman of TASAM Süleyman Şensoy, Vice-Chairman of TASAM R. Ambassador Murat Bilhan, Board Member of TASAM Prof. Dr. Vural Altın, Columnist for the Milliyet Newspaper Kadri Gürsel and Academic Member of the Marmara University Ass. Prof. Gülden Ayman.

The Iranian committee will include the General Director of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of IranDr. Mustafa Dolatyar, Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of IranJalaladdinNamini, Ambassador Jalal Kalantari, Dr. Ghahramani for IPIS and Dr. Kasaei and Dr. Fakheri.

Stating that Turkey, because of its being a border country and the history they share since hundreds of years, is such a significant country for Iran, Chairman of TASAM Süleyman Şensoy continued as: “The Turkish-Iran relations have always had high competitiveness  and high level of cooperation in itself and sometimes this competitiveness weighed much more than the cooperation. Being in a competition within the international law and civil approach, standing face to face at some certain points do increase the dignity of both parts. It is not a right way to follow neither only focusing on competitiveness and conflicting relations, nor emphasizing only the moral values such as friendship and brotherhood.”

Chairman Şensoy stated that these round table meetings have been held since 2008 with the aim of contributing to the relations between these two countries and this last one will include the topics of “Regional and Global Vision of Iran and Turkey”, “Shared Opportunities and Problems” and “New Paths to Follow in Bilateral Affairs”.

After the meeting, the Turkish committee will visit the think tank organizations and research centers in Iran.
